My Passion Projetct Day 5

I'm going to start off by saying that there are a lack of posts because I have been absent on numerous occasions where it was Passion Project day. However, I continued to research dream interpretations, and none of the really applied to my life. This may simply be because I'm an outlier in the whole dream phenomenon. We're said to dream in black and white, but I know for a fact that I dream in color.
Some other tidbits about dreams:
We're said to forget about 90% of our dreams in the first 10 minutes we're awake.
Did you know that we have several dreams every night, and we only remember a dream if that particular dream session is interrupted somehow?
Dreaming prevents phsychosis.
Those who were once smokers have more vivid dreams after they quit.
You are virtually paralyzed while you sleep.
If someone is snoring, they're not dreaming.
Plato thought that dreams come from our stomach and liver.
The symbolism of feet in dreams can represent anything from mobility to humiliation.

With that final fact, I come to my conclusion. Dreams are personal, they're the manifestations of our subconscious. As humans, we have all had different experiences that shape our subconscious. None of the dream dictionaries I looked at really did a good job of interpreting my dreams. That's why I've come to the personal conclusion that dreams are just that. Dreams. They don't necessarily have to mean anything. But, it's hard to tell when I'm just studying myself. Oneirology, the study of dreams, is still developing, and it's a science that we may not master any time soon.

My Passion Project Day 4

So, I've been looking up dream interpretations, and it seems that everything is thought to symbolize something.  Here's the main sight that I used : http://www.dreammoods.com/. Well here's what I've found:

To see a dog in your dream symbolizes intuition, loyalty, generosity, protection, and fidelity. The dream suggests that your strong values and good intentions will enable you to go forward in the world and bring you success. The dream dog may also represent someone in your life who exhibits these qualities. Alternatively, to see a dog in your dream indicates a skill that you may have ignored or forgotten.

To see a happily barking dog in your dream symbolizes pleasures and social activity. You are being accepted into some circle. If the dog is barking ferociously, then it represents your habit of making demands on people and controlling situations around you. Are you "barking" too many orders? Alternatively, it could also indicate unfriendly companions.

To dream that you are buying a dog indicates your tendency to buy your friends or buy compliments and favors. Alternatively, it suggest a need for you to find companionship. If you are being guided by a dog, then it suggests that you are having difficulties in navigating out of a situation or problem.

To see a black colored dog in your dream symbolizes the shadow aspect of a friend. The dark side of someone close to you is being revealed and you are able to see through to their true intentions.

The above goes back to an earlier post about one of my dreams. The below relates to a dream I recently had, where my mom was going through my closet, my cats walked by, and then everything turned purple.

Purple is indicative of devotion, healing abilities, loving, kindness, and compassion. It is also the color of royalty, high rank, justice, wealth and dignity.

To see a closet in your dream symbolizes something in your life that you have kept hidden. It may also signify an unveiling of previously hidden aspects of yourself, as in "coming out of the closet".

To see your mother in your dream represents the nurturing aspect of your own character. Mothers offer shelter, comfort, life, guidance and protection. Some people may have problems freeing themselves from their mothers and are thus seeking their own individuality and development.
To dream that you are having a conversation with your mother denotes a matter that has preoccupied your mind and you are not sure how to deal with it in your waking life. It indicates unresolved problems that need to be worked out with your mother.
To hear your mother call you in our dream suggests that you have been negligent in your duties and responsibilities.  You are pursuing down the wrong path.

To see a cat in your dream symbolizes an independent spirit, feminine sexuality, creativity, and power. It also represents misfortune and bad luck. The dream symbol has different significance depending on whether you are a cat lover or not. The cat could indicate that someone is being deceitful or treacherous toward you. If the cat is aggressive, then it suggests that you are having problems with the feminine aspect of yourself.

To be honest, I have no idea what this all means. None of these things really relate to me. Hm..

My Passion Project Day 3

Salutations! Well, it is the Friday after spring break. I meant to post over vacation, but as you can see, that did not happen. I had some.... odd.. dreams during the holiday which I plan to dicuss briefly. First off, I have somehow subconscously told myself to remember at least one dream about everyother night, and to pay more attention to what my subconscious conjours up for my viewing pleasure as I slumber. Fantastic. I can check that off my mntal to-do list. I've also realized that this is my subconscious. So I don't have much control over it, and some of my dreams might be a little personal, and I'm not sure I'd be willing to share all of that, so i will NOT be sharing every miniscule detail that pops up in my dreams. I may even exempt entire dreams from these posts. As I was podering this, I also took note that I'm somewhat opening my soul to you, and it's going to take a lot of courage.
So, without further a due, time for the plunge.
When I was little, my family lost a dear family friend; our golden retriever, Buster, died of complications of old age. Recently in Biology we were talking about pedigree dogs, and that led to me thinking about my old dog, and I believe that that sparked a dream.
It's a bit hazy but here's how it happened:
I remember sitting in a car, driving down a road. Next thing I know, there's a golden retriever puppy in my lap, and my mom or dad (I honestly have no idea who was driving) wasn't in the car. I somehow knew that we had gone to the pound and gotten this ouooy for a Christmas present, even though it was clearly summer. But I looked out the window, and then back at the puppy, and it's fur had turned black. Now it was a black lab, istead of a golden one. I didn't even register the change, but in the dream I cried when we got home, and that was when I woke up to my alarm clock. Hmm... later, I'll look into the meaning of dreams.
